Once you know the truth it changes you. You can’t stay the same. – Iris Maplewood in the Netflix series Bodies
By Craig McKee
I was a bit slow to catch on to the 9/11 lie. Slower than I’d like, anyway.
But I was a different person then. I knew less about the Matrix-esque nature of the world and was probably happier for it. (This week’s exercise: say “Matrix-esque” 10 times fast. Or once fast.)
There were a couple of things that made me suspicious on the morning of September 11, 2001. The way the towers came down seemed wrong. Instinctively, I felt that a 110-story tower, heavily damaged near the top, would not just “collapse,” with the undamaged majority of the building offering virtually no resistance. It looked weird, and watching it happen twice was even weirder. I also found it hard to believe that hijacked passenger planes could fly around the northeast United States for an unreasonably long time without being intercepted.
Despite these suspicions, I didn’t connect enough dots to see through the whole event at that point. Although I had been a student of the Kennedy assassination since my teens, and I had protested U.S. intervention in Central America on numerous occasions, I had still not become fully aware of just how common false flag operations are.
9/11, the biggest false flag in my lifetime to that point, would change that. And it would change me.
My actual awakening didn’t come until 2007 when a friend told me about Building 7. Initially I dismissed the idea that a third building had come down in New York City that day. The media would have told us, I asserted to my friend. I know, adorably naïve. But seeing the footage of Building 7 coming down was like being splashed with a Gatorade-barrelful of cold, wet reality. My journey had begun.
I began to look closely at the evidence, and it became obvious immediately how badly we’ve all been lied to. I poured my newfound passion into reading the books of David Ray Griffin, which deepened my understanding of the enormity of the 9/11 deception (I’m sure many truthers have awakened with the help of Griffin’s methodical dissection of the evidence).
But I had no outlet for this new understanding. I wasn’t on social media at the time, and I had no activist connections to speak of. As with my deep dive into Kennedy, I was on my own.
It wasn’t until three years later that I was able to take the next step, which happened when I found out how easy it is to start a blog. That’s when I created Truth and Shadows, which I continue to operate today along with this new vehicle.
It was through the blog that I began to make contact with other 9/11 truthers, enabling me to go from student of the event to activist. I was idealistic in the early days of my involvement, taking for granted that those who said they didn’t believe the official story were probably sincere and probably allies.
That didn’t last long.
It took no more than a couple of weeks to realize that the 9/11 Truth Movement isn’t what it first appeared to be. It was clear that more than a few commenters on Facebook or sites like 911blogger.com were not conversing in good faith.
What I was seeing felt organized, coordinated. And nothing I’ve learned in the subsequent years has changed that impression. I think my background in journalism and film criticism helped me to see beyond the spin. I knew from the beginning that I’d be seeing plenty of propaganda concerning 9/11; I just didn’t expect to see as much of it inside the Truth Movement as outside.
Thirteen years after I first dipped my toes into the “truth” waters, I have come to identify and expose a well-organized and relentless COINTELPRO operation that has been steadily and deceitfully poisoning the Truth Movement since before I had even caught on to 9/11. It is made up of some familiar “scholars” and “experts,” along with a self-replenishing sub-cabal of trolls and shills who take on some of the dirtier disinformation tasks for the outfit. To make things worse, this whole disgusting effort is supported by so-called “leaders” of the movement who, whether intentionally or not, boost the apparent credibility of these infiltrators, making it possible for them to do their damage.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. I should first tell you about a piece of evidence that helped open my eyes, not only to the lie of the official story but also to the plot that I just mentioned. It was in the fall of 2010 that I came across a video presentation on the Pentagon event called National Security Alert by a duo called Citizen Investigation Team (Aldo Marquis and Craig Ranke). This was a game changer for me. In their film, CIT presented stunning eyewitness accounts by a number of people who described the path of a large plane that approached the Pentagon shortly after 9:30 a.m. on September 11.
Why stunning? Because the path they described was well to the north of the official one, and it didn’t line up with the damage alleged to have been caused by Flight 77. If these remarkably consistent accounts are correct, and I certainly think they are, then the large plane that many saw approaching the building didn’t hit. When I first came across this film, I was blown away by its implications. The evidence CIT uncovered is so important that infiltrators and other fake truthers have made it the focus of their disinformation efforts for more than 17 years (more about this evidence in future posts).
From National Security Alert I learned about the strange case of taxi driver Lloyde England, who claimed that his car was impaled by a light pole that had supposedly been hit by the right wing of the approaching plane. CIT interviewed England in 2006 and again in 2008, and thanks to these sessions many of the holes in this “victim’s” story were exposed. (Again, more in future posts.)
I mention this because it was from reading discussions in various forums that I started to smell a rat. I kept seeing comments that attacked CIT for how they had treated “that nice old man” (meaning England). The theme of the “confused but well-meaning cabbie being rudely attacked and intimidated by the nasty CIT guys” had been planted by then. And it’s still pushed today.
This sets the scene for all that I’ll be sharing with you in the months ahead about the virtual assassination of the 9/11 Truth Movement. No, I can’t prove that any given “truther” is really a government agent; I haven’t seen anyone’s CIA paystubs. But I can tell you that some who purport to be truthers are actually working against the Truth Movement by sowing division and pushing us to accept more and more of the official story. As to their actual motives, I’ll leave that to the reader to assess. Here are a few possibilities: They are agents, they have been bribed by agents, they have been threatened by agents, or they have been duped by agents (or they are complete psychopaths).
I’ll be naming names, and I’ll be exposing lies. I’ll also call to account those who are lending credibility to these disinformation peddlers. The choice made by some to protect these operatives or dupes (sometimes under the guise of promoting “unity”) will not age well. Those in the Truth Movement who think we should treat everyone as if they are genuine regardless of how duplicitous their behavior is, might not want to hear what I have to say. Or they know what I’m saying and have been refusing to acknowledge its implications for years.
Thirteen years ago I smelled a rat. Today I can tell you who a lot of the rats are and what they’ve been doing to corrupt and neutralize the Truth Movement for all these years.
I think it’s time that genuine truth seekers made a choice: open their minds to this infiltration and refuse to allow the critical Pentagon evidence to be marginalized or surrender the movement once and for all to those who seek its destruction.
Comments on the large plane hit the Pentagon hypothesis
When I worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, I worked in Wedge #1. Wedge #1 was the site of the attack. This gives me some insight into the pictures of the Pentagon taken on 911 because I worked there. A 757 is far too wide to fit the hole. There is no wreckage of the plane outside the hole. The lawn that would have been torn up by the engines is relatively untouched.
If you study the history of disinformation campaigns, you will notice that most disinformation campaigns have at their core one or more absurdities. This helps you to know it is a disinformation campaign. The idea that a large airliner hit the Pentagon is an absurdity.
Two questions:
1. Does what you are being told contain an absurdity (plane too big to fit hole)?
2. Does the person seem to be too intelligent to believe what they are telling you?
It is easy to understand why so many truthers believe the “757 hit the Pentagon Group” is an organized team of disinformation agents working to:
1. Create disruption and disharmony within the 911 Truth Movement
2. Get people to believe something closer to the Official Story
3. Make people waste their time on an unproductive effort
If one believes our mission is to “wake people up”, spending time and effort going around trying to make people believe a 757 might have hit the Pentagon, is a waste of time. What would be the motivation of people doing that?
With regard to individuals with a past history of doing good things in the Truth Movement but who now seemed to have changed, one cannot disregard the possibility of pharmaceutically enabled hypnosis.
Great article Craig. I'm curious, how do these disinformation people respond when confronted with the fact that security camera footage from the Pentagon was confiscated and never shown? I had one person say "As to why no videotape has been released... think about this... why would one of the most secure buildings in the world give up videotape of how it was breached? I think its partly a security issue as well as one of protecting ones pride." This reply makes no sense, in that case why would they show photos of the aftermath?
